Introduction to Japanese

This course will serve as an introduction to learning the basics of the Japanese language and culture. We will play Japanese games and do activities that make this fun as we learn simple sentences, classroom expressions and common words. We’ll discuss festivals and events in Japan and food which will be an intro to some of the cultural aspects. I will demonstrate the two basic Japanese “alphabets” hiragana and katakana and you’ll begin to write those characters. You will see how to use the alphabets for reading basic Japanese words.
