Fun with Machine Learning

Have you heard the terms “Machine Learning”, “Deep Learning”, or “Artificial Intelligence” and wanted to learn more? Have you wondered how computers can recognize voices, images, and faces? In this course we will discuss machine learning fundamentals, with emphasis placed on the application of machine learning techniques. We will build and train a machine learning model using custom datasets. We will use Google’s Teachable AI and Google Colab notebooks.

No previous Machine Learning experience required, but some previous programming experience recommended. No software will be installed. Chromebooks ok!

I am a recent graduate of the Creative Coding Lab in the Computational Media Department at UCSC. I enjoy using software technologies for new applications and thrive building communication and understanding between technical and non-technical individuals. I was a teaching assistant for Introduction to Programming for the Arts. I helped develop labs to encourage students to think creatively, and problem solve. Also a teaching assistant for Accessible Games, I helped increase students’ understanding of programming concepts, application development, and game development.
