This course for beginners is set to provide all the essential knowledge necessary to start playing chess. Using the Lichess platform and a step-by-step method, this course will cover The Chessboard – learn how to identify every square on the chessboard using the address system (intro to notation) and how to set up the pieces. The Pieces – the movement and value of each piece (Pawn, Knight (N), Bishop (B), Rook (R), Queen (Q), King (K). We’ll learn Castling and its importance, and Notation, which uses the address and the pieces to record a chess game. This course will introduce stalemate, other draws, check and checkmate.
